Scaffold Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 3, 2026
Scaffold helps teachers turn course materials into reviewable Canvas course drafts. This policy explains what information Scaffold collects, how it is used, and how teachers stay in control.
Short version
Teachers choose what to upload and connect. Scaffold uses that information to create drafts, run course checks, and support reviewed exports. We do not sell your data, and connected Google data is used only for the features you authorize.
What Scaffold collects
- Account information such as your name, email address, role, LMS preference, and sign-in method.
- Course materials you choose to upload or connect, including syllabi, schedules, rubrics, assignment sheets, spreadsheets, PDFs, documents, and selected Google Drive files or links.
- Course draft data created inside Scaffold, including modules, assignments, due dates, point values, source evidence, review status, export history, and saved workspace state.
- Integration settings needed to connect services you choose, such as Canvas URL/course information and Google connection status.
How Scaffold uses information
- To turn teacher-provided course materials into reviewable course drafts.
- To save your draft history, export history, and workspace progress to your teacher account.
- To connect with services you authorize, such as Canvas, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.
- To improve reliability, troubleshoot errors, and understand whether the product is working for teachers.
Google Drive and Google Calendar
- Scaffold uses Google access only after you choose to connect your Google account.
- Google Drive access is read-only. Scaffold uses it so you can pick course files to import into a course queue.
- Google Calendar access is read-only. Scaffold uses it to show selected calendar events alongside Canvas and course dates.
- Scaffold does not edit, delete, publish, or share Google Drive files or Google Calendar events.
- Scaffold does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train general-purpose models.
Canvas
- Scaffold connects to Canvas only when you provide a Canvas connection method or authorize Canvas access.
- Canvas checks are designed to help teachers understand missing due dates, visibility issues, calendar dates, and export readiness.
- Canvas export happens only after teacher review and confirmation. Scaffold should not auto-publish, auto-delete, or auto-modify course content without a teacher action.
Student data
- Scaffold is designed for course setup and course health workflows, not student surveillance.
- Where Scaffold shows course insights, the product should use aggregated information and avoid displaying individual student names in the teacher assistant experience.
- Teachers should not upload unnecessary student personal information into Scaffold.
How information is shared
- Scaffold does not sell teacher, student, Google, or Canvas data.
- Scaffold may use trusted service providers for hosting, database storage, authentication, file processing, and document extraction.
- Scaffold may share information if required by law, to protect the service, or with your direction when you connect third-party tools.
Your choices
- You can choose which files to upload, which Google Drive files to select, and whether to connect Canvas or Google Calendar.
- You can remove queued materials and saved drafts inside the product where those controls are available.
- You can disconnect integrations in settings or revoke Google access from your Google Account permissions page.
- You can contact Scaffold to request account or data deletion.
Security and retention
- Scaffold uses account-based access controls and stores saved work so teachers can return to drafts across devices.
- We keep information as long as needed to provide the service, maintain records, resolve issues, or comply with legal obligations.
- No online service can guarantee perfect security, but Scaffold is built to minimize unnecessary access and keep teacher control at the center of the workflow.
